East 104th Avenue Improvements
JR Engineering served as the Program Manager for the $80 million multi-phased roadway and utility improvement project to reconstruct and widen eight miles of 104th Avenue from west of US Highway 85 to E-470. The project’s goals were to improve traffic flow, provide connections to the regional transportation network, and support and encourage residential and retail development along the corridor.
The project was a multiple jurisdictional project requiring coordination with Commerce City, Adams County, E-470, CDOT, FRICO, RTD, DRCOG, FHWA, UPRR, BNSF railroad, Urban Drainage, and over 80 various properties, businesses, and HOAs. The project included 7 bridge structures and 19 traffic signals. The traffic signal design included Colorado’s first queue cutter traffic signal at the UPRR crossing.
JR is currently providing construction support services for the Phase 3B project, which includes the reconstruction of the existing 1.5-mile road segment from US 85 to Lima Street. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2016.
