EAST OF ASPEN TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS II

Project Overview:

The primary goals of the project are to:

Currently, sections of trail exist along portions of the highway corridor but are not continuous and do not link into the functional sidewalk system in the heart of town. The goal of a continuous trail connection may require the design of a new pedestrian bridge over the Roaring Fork River or the utilization of the existing Highway 82 bridge structure at Cooper Avenue.

Site hosted by:

An elevated trail structure might be necessary between the two highway access points of Crystal Lake Road where there is not adequate width in the existing roadway platform to accommodate a trail. All options for trail design will be considered through this section.

A design of a replacement bridge is necessary where the existing Ute Trail crosses the Salvation Ditch at Crystal Lake.

The scope of work will include:

· Examination of both north and south sides of highway between the Cooper Street Bridge and McSkimming Road to develop a single separated trail alignment along Highway 82.

· Examination and design of a better trail crossing of the Roaring Fork River at Cooper Street.

· Examination and design of trail alignment and/or elevated structure between the two entrances of Crystal Lake Drive.

· Examination and design of a preferred trail alignment between Stillwater Drive and the end of the existing trail along Highway 82 located approximately 600 l.f. west of Stillwater Drive.

· Create a continuous pedestrian trail connection between the Cooper Avenue Bridge to Stillwater Drive.

· Design a pedestrian crossing of the Roaring Fork River at the Cooper Avenue Bridge by either utilizing the existing bridge structure or by designing a separated pedestrian bridge.

· Design a replacement pedestrian bridge at Crystal Lake.
