JR Engineering served as the Civil Engineer and Landscape Architect for the expansion of the existing Humane Society Facility in Colorado Springs, CO. Due to the Cimarron interchange improvements the Humane Society needed to reconfigure their site to work within the new site boundary. Coordination with CDOT and the Regional Floodplain Administrator was critical to the success of this project.
The building and parking expansion required the relocation of an existing water main as well as the installation of a water quality pond. While the site is not flat there was little opportunity to build a standard pond due to the inadequate outfall availability created by the Cimarron Interchange. Additionally, the site expanded to the north across an existing drainage tract owned by the City. The bisected site needed to have connectivity across the drainage without being cost prohibitive.
JR is currently providing construction support services for the project.
