Currently JR Engineering has an opening for a Recent Civil Engineer College Graduate, Survey Instrument Operator, and a Construction Engineer in our Centennial office.
Recent Civil Engineer College Graduate
The qualified person will perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
The ideal candidate will conceive and develop solutions to engineering programs through the application of professionally accepted engineering techniques, practices and procedures. Ensures that engineering work conforms to high technical and organization standards and meets or exceeds all contract requirements.
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
Assists in the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications for subdivisions, commercial developments, multi-family developments and public works projects
Assists in the preparation of calculations, such as storm drain, wastewater, water system, earthwork quantities, transportation, cost estimates and other supporting documentation for public and private projects
Performs plan drafting using AutoCAD software
Ensures the product ability of designs
Other duties as assigned
Recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
EIT / FE license preferred
AutoCAD, and associated design software
Survey Instrument Operator
Assists the Party Chief in carrying out the assignments and activities of the Survey Crew. Primarily responsible for the daily operation of the survey equipment.
Typically spends majority of time outdoors on project sites (possible heat, cold or inclement weather, presence of construction equipment and associated hazards).
Typically works on a project site requiring strenuous walking and climbing on uneven terrain. Requires ability to lift and carry surveying equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
Assists the Party Chief with data collection, field notes, mathematical calculations, and information checks.
Operation of a variety of survey instrumentation.
Works with survey personnel to ensure accurate and efficient completion of assignments.
Responsible for minor vehicle and survey equipment maintenance and cleanliness.
Stocks the survey vehicle with survey supplies as needed.
Keeps the survey vehicle in a neat and organized condition.
A High School Diploma or GED.
College classes emphasizing math skills a plus.
Some technical survey knowledge is preferred.
Some knowledge of Trimble, GPS, and construction staking is preferred.
Strong mathematical skills is a must.
Strong verbal/written communication skills.
Must have a valid driver’s license in order to operate a company vehicle.
At least 6 months field experience preferred.
Experience in GPS surveys including static & RTK preferred.
Use of Trimble equipment a plus.
The qualified person will provide daily site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications and codes.They will coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies. They will be responsible for preparing daily reports and reviewing contractors schedules.
Measure and record pay quantities
Coordinate 3rd-party material testing inspections
Review and provide input on potential change order and design change issues
Maintain project records
Manage project photographic records
Verification of field surveys
High School diploma or equivalent education
A BSCE, preferred
Registered Civil Engineer, preferred
Minimum of two years directly related experience in roadway and utility construction.
Inspection certifications preferred (CDOT, ACI, APWA, RMAEC, CCA, RMAC)
Experience with regulatory agencies and familiarity with federal and state design processes desirable.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD desirable
Ability to coordinate with clients and review agencies.
Strong verbal/written communication skills.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
