Highlands Ranch, Colorado

BackCountry is a “one of a kind” premier gated, luxury home community located at the southerly pinnacle point of Highlands Ranch.  It received the prestigious Community of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver in 2011. The community offers many luxury amenities including the 467 acres of private open space which abuts the 8,200 acre BackCountry Wilderness Area of Highlands Ranch.  A prime feature of the community is the abundance of open space and trail corridors that intertwine the layout and are accessible from all lots. 


JR Engineering was involved with the final two single family residential filings which totaled over 400 custom and semi-custom lots.  These lots offered price ranges of luxury homes from the upper $500s to custom homes from the low to mid $2 millions. These filings were planned and designed to take advantage of the view corridors which span from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak and of the downtown Denver skyline.  In an effort to accomplish this vision, the site was designed like an amphitheater setting providing most homes with unobstructed views. 


JR Engineering provided civil engineering services for preliminary and final site design.  The design implemented a low impact drainage design and improvements to East Marcy Gulch, UDFCD and FEMA approvals and the design of a large irrigation pond incorporated into a park amenity.
