Traffic Signal Design · Intersection Design · Safety Improvements · ADA Improvements
JR Engineering designed traffic signal modifications at the intersections of Belleview Avenue/Ulster Street and Belleview Avenue/DTC Boulevard to improve safety and accessibility at these high-volume intersections in Greenwood Village. At Belleview and Ulster, the improvements focused on updating the phasing for the northbound and southbound dual left-turn lanes, transitioning from protected/permissive to protected-only operation. Signal head adjustments were incorporated to support this phasing change, enhancing safety for turning movements.
Traffic Signal & Pedestrian Improvements
At Belleview and DTC, modifications included changing the phasing for the eastbound and westbound dual left-turn lanes and transitioning from protected/permissive to protected-only operation. Additionally, the signal poles and mast arms at the northwest and southeast corners of the intersection were replaced. The project also addressed pedestrian accessibility by evaluating existing curb ramps for ADA compliance and designing necessary modifications to meet current standards.
Agency Coordination & HSIP Funding
The project, funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), required CDOT review and approval. Since the north side of Belleview Avenue falls under the jurisdiction of the City and County of Denver (CCD), JR collaborated with CCD to design new electric meters for both intersections. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, bringing these critical safety and accessibility improvements to fruition.
