Roadway Design · Traffic Analysis · Intersection Design · Multimodal Planning · Utility Coordination
JR Engineering served as the prime consultant for the O Street & 59th Avenue Intersection Improvements Project, a Local Agency project requiring review and approval from CDOT Region 4. The project converts the existing two-way stop-controlled intersection into a single-lane roundabout designed to accommodate future expansion to a multilane roundabout. A major component of the project included a Traffic Impact Study evaluating 2045 traffic conditions associated with adjacent development. Vehicle and pedestrian safety were key considerations due to anticipated growth in pedestrian and bicycle activity. The roundabout was designed to maintain vehicle speeds below 25 mph at all approaches while accommodating large trucks and farm equipment.
Roundabout Design & Multimodal Safety
JR worked closely with the City of Greeley, CDOT, irrigation ditch owners, and the Great Western Railroad to develop the intersection improvements and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates. The design balanced traffic operations and future capacity needs with pedestrian and bicycle safety and access.
Right-of-Way & Utility Coordination
JR acquired several properties and prepared CDOT-format right-of-way plans and legal descriptions required for the improvements. The project also required major utility relocations, which were coordinated in-house by JR’s team.
