Office Surveyor I / CAD

Job Description

 

Responsible for daily production of survey documents; and participates with the Project Surveyor/Project Lead in planning and oversight of multiple projects to meet budgetary and timeline targets.  Create survey documents and calculations for public/private sector construction projects and assist with various types of surveys such as topographic, right-of-way, and control surveys under state guidelines. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare boundary surveys, topographic/design surveys, asbuilt record documents for municipal/client distribution and field staff use.

  • Construction calculation preparation and project reference document/field data organization.

  • Demonstrate high attention for completeness and accuracy as well as document quality control.

  • Proficiency with reading/interpretation of construction and legal documents.

  • Identifies solutions to technical survey problems, errors in surveys, plans, filing documents.

  • Tracking and reporting on status of technical tasks to the Project Surveyor and/or Project Leads.

  • Frequent backup/technical reference for direct Supervisor and other inter-department Project Surveyors and/or Project Leads.

Qualifications

Education and Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Comprehend technical and legal documents such as construction plans and deeds.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.

  • Must work well with a team, take direction well, and possess a strong willingness to learn.

  • Accurately resolve issues in fast pace environment under minimal supervision.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of land survey experience required.

  • Proficiency with Auto CAD Civil 3D required. 

  • Trimble Business Center and GIS knowledge is a plus.

  • MS suite proficiency is a plus. 

  • LSIT preferred but not required.

Working Environment and Physical Activities:

  • Normal office environment.  Infrequent visits to field sites and client offices as necessary.

  • Ability to understand and be understood in the English language, both orally and in writing.

  • Distinguish colors sufficiently to read project maps and elevations.

Party Chief

Job Description


Responsible for leading a survey crew in completion of assigned tasks.  Ability to perform all types of survey projects including: Residential Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Construction Staking.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all field records including field notes, construction cut sheets and electronic data files

  • Ability to understand Land Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Construction Plans and utilize this understanding in the completion of tasks via field calculations or QC of office calculations

  • Ability to plan projects and utilize best field procedures to complete tasks to the standard of quality expected as efficiently as possible

  • Reports to the Field Survey Manager the crew’s progress on a daily basis, and is responsible for the accuracy and productivity of the survey crew

  • Interfaces with clients and contractors on jobsites to keep abreast of their schedules and needs

  • Responsible for vehicle and survey equipment maintenance and cleanliness

  • Responsible for crew’s safety and ensures that training and equipment to do the job properly and safely are maintained

Survey Instrument Operator

Job Description

 

Primarily responsible for assisting the Party Chief in completion of daily tasks including Boundary Surveys, TOPO Surveys and Construction staking.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Party Chief with field notes, calculations, cut sheets, and all other date pertinent to the field study

  • Assists in operation of survey equipment including set ups, tear downs, and staking out points or collecting information

  • Keeps field notes in the data collector or field book as necessary

  • Works with Party Chief to ensure accurate and efficient completion of assignments

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

JR Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer for our Colorado Springs Land Development team. The candidate should be well-rounded, team oriented, and familiar with the local community and development process.

Responsibilities

  • Land development engineering design and production including grading, site layout, water, sewer plans, and storm/detention pond plans for residential subdivisions & commercial developments. Applicable reports, calculations, and modeling programs.

  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the work of the project team, including the coordination of the project with the review agencies

  • Carrying out and completing multiple project assignments through all project phases.

  • Assists in the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for subdivisions, commercial developments, multifamily developments, and public works projects.

  • Review work from peers to ensure sound and accurate designs, plans, and reports that meet all applicable criteria, client or project goals, and the high standard of quality that JR demands.

  • Provide meaningful direction, training, and guidance to younger staff to grow their knowledge and tool sets to build a strong team atmosphere and working relationships.

  • Proven ability serving as the liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and other consultants on the project team.

  • Efficient time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Broad multi-disciplinary knowledge in civil engineering including land development, transportation, water resources, wastewater, structural, and geotechnical topics

  • Strong technical knowledge with hydrology, hydraulics, utility design and associated modeling software (StormCAD, CUHP, EPA SWMM, and HEC-RAS experience preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical, and time and resource management skills.

SUE Manager

Responsible for planning, scheduling and overall management of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) staff and procedures to achieve efficient and cost effective results that meet client expectation and return profits to the company. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and identifies project goals, timeliness, and resource requirements for SUE operations. 

  • Lead all field locator crews and assumes ultimate responsibility for: quality, time, cost, communication, and schedule for the field operations.

  • Ensures all department policies, procedures, standards, are adhered to.

  • Oversees the maintenance of SUE project logs and documentation files.

  • Provide technical direction to all field locator staff, responsible for creation and implementation of all SUE procedures.

  • Identify extras and outside of scope items as they occur, provide information to the designated Client Manager in order to capture any potential lost revenue.

  • Responsible for all facets of SUE operations, attend meetings, provide written or oral reports on progress and be the main SUE resource.

 

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain long-term client relationships that lead to additional work and services.  Promote all JR services and offices to clients.

  • Responsible for all SUE staff, including: approving timesheets, work schedule, mentoring and training, etc.

  • Responsible for overseeing the purchasing, maintenance, repair, and inventory of all SUE equipment, including but not limited to SUE equipment, truck maintenance, and first aid supplies.
