Office Surveyor

Centennial

Job Summary:

Responsible for daily production of survey documents; and participates with the Project Surveyor/Project Lead in planning and oversight of multiple projects to meet budgetary and timeline targets. Create survey documents and calculations for public/private sector construction projects and assist with various types of surveys such as topographic, right-of-way, and control surveys under state guidelines.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare boundary surveys, topographic/design surveys, asbuilt record documents for municipal/client distribution and field staff use.

  • Construction calculation preparation and project reference document/field data organization.

  • Demonstrate high attention for completeness and accuracy as well as document quality control.

  • Proficiency with reading/interpretation of construction and legal documents.

  • Identifies solutions to technical survey problems, errors in surveys, plans, filing documents.

  • Tracking and reporting on status of technical tasks to the Project Surveyor and/or Project Leads.

  • Frequent backup/technical reference for direct Supervisor and other inter-department Project Surveyors and/or Project Leads.

 

Job Qualifications:

Education and Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Comprehend technical and legal documents such as construction plans and deeds.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.

  • Must work well with a team, take direction well, and possess a strong willingness to learn.

  • Accurately resolve issues in fast pace environment under minimal supervision.

  • Driven individual seeking to achieve one’s goals.

 

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of land survey experience required.

  • Proficiency with Auto CAD Civil 3D required.

  • Trimble Business Center and GIS knowledge is a plus.

  • MS suite proficiency is a plus.

  • LSIT preferred but not required.

 

Working Environment and Physical Activities:

  • Normal office environment. Infrequent visits to field sites and client offices as necessary.

  • Ability to understand and be understood in the English language, both orally and in writing.

  • Distinguish colors sufficiently to read project maps and elevations.

  • Ability to spend significant periods of time (6 to 8 hours/day) working at a computer station.

 

 

 

 

Water Resources Project Engineer

Job Description

 

JR Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer for our Centennial Water Resources team. The candidate should be well-rounded, team oriented, and familiar with the local community and development process.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Water Resources engineering analysis & design and construction plan production; including hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, grading, storm sewer and channel plans, and detention pond design and construction plans.  Applicable software modeling, reports, and calculations.

  • Carrying out and completing multiple project assignments through all project phases.

  • Assisting in the preparation of construction plans, specifications, supporting documents, and design reports for stormwater and utility public works projects.

  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the work of the project team, including the coordination of the project with the review agencies.

  • Review work from peers to ensure sound and accurate designs, plans, and reports that meet all applicable criteria, client or project goals, and the high standard of quality that JR demands.

  • Provide meaningful direction, training, and guidance to junior staff to grow their knowledge and skill sets to build  a collaborative team atmosphere and strong working relationships.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience required.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.

  • EIT certification required.

  • PE License, or the ability to obtain a Colorado PE license within 12 months.

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency (or Microstation experience with the ability to learn AutoCAD).

  • Broad multi-disciplinary knowledge in civil engineering including strength in hydrology and hydraulics, and exposure to wastewater, structural, construction, and geotechnical topics.

  • Strong technical knowledge with hydrology, hydraulics, utility design and associated modeling software (StormCAD, CUHP, EPA SWMM, and HEC-RAS experience preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical, and time and resource management skills.

  • Knowledge of Mile High Flood District processes and experience working within Denver Metro Area jurisdictions are a plus.

Job Description


Responsible for leading a survey crew in completion of assigned tasks.  Ability to perform all types of survey projects including: Residential Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Construction Staking.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all field records including field notes, construction cut sheets and electronic data files

  • Ability to understand Land Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Construction Plans and utilize this understanding in the completion of tasks via field calculations or QC of office calculations

  • Ability to plan projects and utilize best field procedures to complete tasks to the standard of quality expected as efficiently as possible

  • Reports to the Field Survey Manager the crew’s progress on a daily basis, and is responsible for the accuracy and productivity of the survey crew

  • Interfaces with clients and contractors on jobsites to keep abreast of their schedules and needs

  • Responsible for vehicle and survey equipment maintenance and cleanliness

  • Responsible for crew’s safety and ensures that training and equipment to do the job properly and safely are maintained

  • Responsible for the teaching and mentoring of the instrument operator assigned to the crew

Working Environment

  • Typically spends majority of time on project site (outdoors, possible heat, cold or inclement weather, presence of construction equipment and associated hazards)

  • Typically work on a project site requires strenuous walking and climbing on uneven terrain.  Requires ability to lift and carry surveying equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.  Ability to use far vision for surveying activities and close vision (correctable for required accuracy) and ability to distinguish colors sufficient to read project maps and elevations.

Responsible for leading a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) crew in completion of assigned tasks.  Ability to perform all types of SUE projects.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, locates, and marks both dry utilities and gravity fed utilities in the field per UNCC and ASCE 38-22 requirements utilizing various locating equipment.

  • Maintain all field records including field notes, sketches, and electronic data files.

  • Ability to understand utility ownership maps and utilize this understanding in the completion of SUE related tasks.

  • Ability to plan projects and utilize best field procedures to complete tasks to the standard of quality expected as efficiently as possible.

  • Reports to the SUE Manager on the crew’s progress on a daily basis, and is responsible for the accuracy and productivity of the SUE crew.

  • Interfaces with clients on jobsites to keep abreast of their schedules and needs.

 

Other Duties/Responsibilities:
